Working together, one-on-one.

Private Consultations

My favorite way of working is one-on-one, where every plan is unique to the individual’s needs, and can adapt as we go along. Some people are nervous about the thought of giving up dieting and are looking for a solid, yet compassionate hand to hold. Some know it’s time for a change and are seeking guidance and accountability. Others think they pretty much know what to do, but keep asking, “am I doing this right?” or are still stuck in the all-or-nothing, success/failure diet mentality and just can’t seem to “get it”. Others have no idea what to do or where they’re going, they just know they can’t go back to how it’s been.

To start off, we’ll meet for an initial 30-minute consultation, preferably face-to-face although virtual is an option, to see if we are a good fit to work together. Moving forward, there is an initial 85-minute intake appointment then we will generally meet for an hour every week or every other week. I offer suggestions for “homework”, including reading, journaling, body image work, and embodiment practices in order to continue the work outside of session. Intellectual exploration is important to the process, however healing is also experienced in the body, bite by bite.

Although I don’t take insurance, I can provide a “superbill” for reimbursement and/or invoices for HSA/FSA use. Sliding scale or flexible fees are available. See more basic information about working with me here.

Nicole can see clients in person and virtually from the Twin Cities area, and virtual clients in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, North Carolina, Colorado, Arizona, and California.

What my clients are saying

This work is so personal. I appreciate when clients allow me to share their experience so that others may help determine if this is the right step for them.

Nicole is wonderful to work with. She helped me immeasurably on my journey, and I will forever be grateful for her services and compassion.

Working with Nicole this past year has changed my life. She has helped guide me down the path of intuitive eating and giving my body the respect it deserves. I have learned so many tools and tricks to help in small everyday situations. Changing the way I think and learning to work with my body instead of against it has given me a new outlook on life. Deconstructing diet culture and embracing intuitive eating has given me a brighter outlook on life and taken away a lot of the stress that I have had around food. Nicole is also an extremely kind, caring person, and incredibly easy to talk to. Our sessions - no matter how far apart - always feel like a continued conversation between friends. I know I always have her in my corner down the road and feel confident I will continue to learn with the firm base she helped me grow.

Nicole helped me get to the root of my eating issues. She offers a lot of resources and is knowledgeable, compassionate and empowering. I felt supported and understood throughout the entire process. My experience with Mindful Food and Motion has set me up for a long-term healthy relationship with food and my body.

Dear Nicole:
I don’t think I can fully express in words my gratitude to you for guiding me in the process of coming home to myself. Though I came to you because I was tired of playing the game of disordered eating and knew that another way to be existed, I had no idea the personal journey of discovery that was in store for me.

This work has been some of the most important work I’ve done in my life because it helped me peel back the layers of my self – of my identity – and see how disordered eating colored them, protected them, and hindered them. By no means is this journey over, yet I feel empowered and equipped to deal with the challenges to come because of working with you. My mind has become more curious and open, both toward myself and others. I am more critical of the culture we swim in and it’s messages and more apt to ask it to account for the harm done to me and others rather than blame individually. I feel a definite sense of liberation – a self-discovered freedom to be more my self. Thank you for all you’ve done to question and challenge, for your exquisite power of deep listening and compassion.

Meme over blue mountains stating, “Though I came to you because I was tired of playing the game of disordered eating and knew that another way to be existed, I had no idea the personal journey of discovery that was in store for me.”

Nicole is wonderful. I had tried to do intuitive eating on my own by reading books and even with an online coach, but found nothing “stuck” until I met face-to-face with her. My entire approach to food, eating, and just being in my body has changed for the better. I will never diet again and am happier in my body than I’ve been in years.

Nicole helped me learn more tools to address the roots of my eating issues. For me, it’s been freeing to learn that I can easily eat intuitively when I am nurturing myself in ways that are far more rewarding than eating. I needed Nicole’s help to understand this.

I’m increasing my ability to ignore all of the cultural messaging that sabotages me by telling me to look outside of myself for body wisdom.

When I first read Intuitive Eating, I was intrigued. Could I become an intuitive eater too? I had taken numerous nutrition classes and had become confused with contradictory advice coming from so many experts. When I found Nicole on the Intuitive Eating website, she responded right away and we met for our first session. I have found that having a supportive Intuitive Eating counselor is essential to implementing these new learnings.
