DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION STATEMENT

I stand with the approaches and paradigms that work toward liberation from the oppression of bodies by external systems and internalized beliefs, including Body Trust, HAES, Intuitive Eating, mindfulness and self-compassion practices, and all of the social-justice and body-liberation movements including anti-racist and fat-positive movements in an effort to re-claim trust in the function and worthiness of each unique body. There always has been and always will be a variety of bodies in this world and that diversity is cause for awe and celebration, not as basis for judgment or worthiness.

I welcome each and every opportunity to work with people who have different lived experience than my own. There is a wealth of knowledge and strength that comes with every person’s current and ancestral history. I believe every ounce of you is sacred and we need your unique voice and being in this world!

As a Certified Body Trust Practitioner, I align with the Informed Consent created by Be Nourished that can be found here: https://members.benourished.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Informed-Consent.pdf.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ME

Honesty. Authenticity. Compassion.

Everyone’s identity is unique. The manner in which we interact with ourselves, our loved ones, and society as a whole is influenced by this identity. My lived experience will be different than someone I work with. I have begun and will continue the work to understand and address how my privilege as a cis-het, middle-class, educated, able-bodied, thin, white woman influences myself and those around me. I am dedicated to unlearning the systems of oppression and discrimination build around us, with social justice and liberation in mind.

The work I do with clients, students, and peers is more than just my career. It is my calling. My passion. Creating a solo private practice allows me the flexibility and autonomy to work in accordance with my values in the way I see most effective through research and experience, rather than adhering to a board, committee, or anyone else’s values. It is a responsibility that I don’t take lightly.

I am here to support your journey. To explore with you the possibility of growth and shifts that can create motion toward peace and freedom. I will not weigh you. I will not make a meal plan for you. I will not discuss calories with you. I will suggest homework and meditations. I will ask you to try things on. Sometimes I help push you outside your comfort zone (where the magic happens!). But ultimately, this is about you and your journey, your timeframe, your process of healing.

I offer a variety of levels of support; from speaking to open book club, support groups, skills workshops, group and one-on-one counseling.

We have created a community of people willing to explore changing the paradigm around food and bodies. Whether one-on-one or in a group setting, I invite you to join our ranks.
